The Roman-Catholic Basilica

Built between 1752-1780, the roman-catholic Basilica is the biggest baroque monument in the country. The project was built in 1950 by the Austrian architect Franz Anton Hillebrant but the constructions hadn't begun until 1752.
In the front of the church there is the bronze statue of St. Ladislas. Beside this there is another statue of the famous king, witch was set up after the restoration in 2000 (it was covered of asphalt 52 years in the years of the communism). This is the oldest statue sculpted in stone in baroque style from Oradea. The Basilica together with the Bishop Palace and the canon row constitute the catholic complex of the town.
