The Holocaust Monument

In the summer of 1941, the Office for Foreigners' Control adjured the gathering of the Jews of foreign citizenship (Poles, Austrians, Czechs, etc). Jews and their families who have settled in Oradea for a long time had been collected. Many of them were arrested and transported in inhuman conditions to Poland, they were handed over to the German authorities and executed at Kamenec- Podolsk. At the point when the city was freed, only 6500 lived in Oradea. Today, the Jewish community has no more than 600 souls.
In place of those who have disappeared, only a black marble monument remained, near the Orthodox Synagogue.
